Inspired by the expansive coastline of Norfolk, this piece captures the quiet beauty of an almost empty beach beneath a vast and changing sky.
The gentle curve of the shoreline leads the eye towards the distant horizon, while soft tones of sand, sea and cloud create a sense of openness and calm. A solitary figure in the distance emphasises both the scale of the landscape and the peaceful solitude that can be found along the coast.
Through soft pastel, I sought to capture not only the appearance of the Norfolk shoreline, but the feeling of freedom, space and reflection that comes from standing at the edge of the sea.
